10th Anniversary Weekend Bash
Friday, May 14th, 7pm:
BBQ hosted by the RSYP Board of Directors for former and current staff and youth at the Schneider Youth Building. Youth under 25 come FREE! Open to the public for $10/person.
Saturday, May 15th, 1pm-6pm:
FREE community events.
River Walk Art project work day at the skatepark, youth artwork market, planting a home garden with Greenagers, skate activities, basketball activities with Berkshire South summer staff.
Local food vendors: Riverbend Cafe, Rt. 7 Grill, Azteca Taqueria, Burgers & Hot Dogs.
Child-friendly activities: frisbee golf, jumprope contests, face painting, 3-legged races, pudding wrestling.
Community groups: Tapestry Health Van will be doing FREE, anonymous STI testing until 4pm; Project Native will demo plants and give discount coupons; South Berkshire Community Coalition; CATA art sale and info; Multicultural BRIDGE; Berkshire Co-op; Berkshire United Way; there will be music all day at Memorial Field. We have a tent in case of rain!
Saturday night, 8pm-11pm: Youth bands The Lix, Ryan Foss, The Interlopers, The Aposoul. Youth Fashion Show at 8:45 styled by Sideshow Clothing Co., CATA and Sim's Barber Shop followed by a Higher Organix concert with a supersonic dance party under the tent at Memorial Field. Tickets: $10.
Sunday, 11am-1pm: Brunch at Castle St. Cafe honoring RSYP’s founding Board Chairman Erik Bruun. Tickets: $100.
Sunday, 1:30pm-2:30pm: RSYP’s 10th Anniversary Public CELEBRATION at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center. Interactive presentation of past and present youth projects. Awards given by Great Barrington Town Manager, Kevin O'Donnell and State Representative Smitty Pignatelli. Honoring of RSYP Founder Amanda Root. Tickets: $10, available at the door.
Sunday, 2:45pm-4:30pm: Come see the 2010 performance of SubUrbia at the Mahaiwe. Tickets: $10. Anyone who attended the 1999 performance (the very first RSYP youth-inspired project) gets in FREE!
