NGO status enables local youth to get unique access to the United Nations through RSYP

Railroad Street Youth Project received word this week that we've been granted official NGO status at the United Nations! This will allow RSYP's young constituents to learn about and promote issues of global concern, and participate in expanded United Nations activities. RSYP will attend its 7th International Day of Peace Observance on September 17th. If you would like to get involved contact Michele at michele@rsyp.org.

Repainting of WEB DuBois Mural on July 25

From Saturday July 25th through Monday July 26th, RSYP will be colaborating with Brett Parson and Jake Reiny to renovate the W.E.B. Dubois Carr Hardware mural. We are seeking volunteers who would like to be involved in the painting process, as well as any donations that will help us buy all the necessary supplies! No experience necessary to help paint.  Open for public participation.  Please feel free to call RSYP @ 413-528-2475 if you have any questions.

Public Art at the GB Skatepark this summer

RSYP is looking for any youth who would like to display original pieces of art for a new public art project funded by the New England Foundation for the Arts. The exhibit will be installed outdoors, above the existing poles that form the fence between the river and the skatepark. Youth must fill out an application to be considered, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The first installation will be August 15th. This project is made possible by the incredible public artists Will Machin and Howie Sneider of The Steel Yard.

Mentors thanked as RSYP marks year 5 of program

Thanks to all who helped out and attended our Mentoring Celebration on June 10th. It was a great success. We heard inspiring stories from current participants Richard Stanley, Robbie Bertram, Walter McTeigue, Jeff Jennison, and mom Susan Eiffert, as well as supporters of our mentoring program, including Rep. Smitty Pignatelli. We are always looking for new mentors who want to make a difference in a young person's life. For more information contact Jeanette at jeanette@rsyp.org and check out  rsyp.org/what-we-do/programs/mentoring-program/ .  This program is supported by Berkshire Bank Foundation, Mass Service Alliance, Mass Mentoring Partnership, Berkshire United Way and the Green Foundation.
